The Free People
Amazigh translates to " The Free People"
Often referred to as Berber, the Amazigh are an indigenous ethnic group that spans across the northern desert regions of the Africa Continent. With over 200 tribes in Morocco alone, textiles play an important role in the cultural identity of tribes.
Zaid (pictured to the left) was born to the nomadic Amazigh tribe of Ait Addidou in the High Atlas mountains. He is a wisdom keeper, carrying the historical traditions and contemporary evolution of his people. He shares the remembrance of traditional and current textile fabrication, value and usage. He serves as a bridge between worlds, time and nomads alike.
