Sut Ixil

Sut Ixil

Traditional mayan scarf named SUT. Margarita Ceto is a maya Ixil living in Santa Maria de Nebaj. She is the mother of a closer friend and it was an amazing moment to meet her and talk about life. She can not weave anymore because of health issues but she was really happy to sell me two sut she weaved few years ago. They are brand new. They are traditionally used bended on one shoulder but can also use to cover basket with precious food. The symbolism are humans, corn and animals, as a representation of abundance and unity between the Earth and us.
